There's No Emoticon To Describe The Look On My Face

And while I was watching this video, I kept randomly tensing up different parts of my body. I am amazed. I can just picture the bigwigs at MGM finding these girls and giving them their fifteen minutes of fame because really, where could they go from here?

Thank you to whoever nominated my fanvid 'You Look So Good' for the awards! It was my first video and I'm so pleased that you liked it enough to put it up for nomination.

Befriend A Geek - think of geeks during this holiday season!

Urban Knitting: The World’s Most Inoffensive Graffiti - this strikes me like something from Stuff White People Like (the tagging, not the knitting) but I know I’ve got some stitchers on my flist so enjoy. The trees, in particular, look excellent.

Language And Meta

There’s a website called ‘Rocket Italian’ that offers online lessons to people wishing to learn how to speak Italian. They send you the first few lessons for free so I’ve grabbed them and uploaded them to my Filefront account.

And for your reading pleasure, an article on ‘Praxis’ (online Transformative Works and Cultures journal) regarding "The epic love story of Sam and Dean: Supernatural, queer readings, and the romance of incestuous fan fiction” by Catherine Tosenberger. This is a great paper exploring the concept of queer as ‘Other’ and how it is normal in the context of Sam and Dean’s upbringing and adult relationships with each other, as well as linking to tropes found in Romanticism and Gothic literary. I found myself nodding along with the author and still have the tab open because of the handy list of works cited at the bottom.

45 Vintage ‘Space Age’ Illustrations - ‘Popular Mechanics’ magazine cover pages from the 1950’s. This is the 21st century; where the hell is my personal hovercraft? Image-heavy but probably has some great ideas for artists.

Excellent Add-Ons

Here’s the latest batch of add-ons I’ve downloaded for Firefox 3.0.4.

Aging Tabs 0.7.1 - makes unused tabs fade with age. This is a cute little extension.

Flagfox 3.3.4 - displays a country flag depicting the location of the current website's server and provides quick access to detailed location and webserver information. You can click on the flag and it will tell you if the site you’re on is secure, how many times you’ve been there and if you have any passwords attached to it.

Read It Later 0.9926 - allows you to save pages of interest to read later. It eliminates cluttering of bookmarks with sites that are merely of a one-time interest. THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER! No more having to deal with crazy bookmark folders and moving and deleting.

Zoom toolbar 0.8 - adds zoom buttons to the toolbar. I don’t know if my eyes are getting worse but I’ve had a lot of difficulty lately finding a font size that is appropriate to the sites I’ve been surfing to.

Music Is Love

Singer Makadem (from Barak Obama’s father’s homeland of Kenya) has composed a reggae song entitled ‘Obama Be Thy Name’

"All the voters in America
Barack Obama be thy name
Thy change shall come
Thy will be done
As it is America

...

Change in America
Is change in Africa, Australia, Asia, Europe, South America"

BONUS: Seattle band Fleet Foxes have been touted as having harmonies as good as, if not better than, The Beach Boys. Listen to White Winter Hymnal and see what you think.
