Thanks For Nothing, And For Something

Bought a refill for my foundation and a new compact thingy this afternoon and, just as the shop assistant is handing me a receipt for the $61 I'd spent, she says, "By the way, we're having a special promotion next week. If you buy something you'll get free gifts; creams and lipsticks."

"And how much would I have to spend?" I ask.

"$60," she says with a wide smile.

You'll be pleased to know I resisted the urge to hex her.

A request for my well-read flist: I was watching the The First Tuesday Book Club and one of the commentators mentioned that The Collector by John Fowles has the best last line ever written. Google has failed me; has anyone read it? Could you tell me this fantastic last line? Don't worry about spoiling me, I know the characters and plot. And if you want to tell me how it ends, go for it. I doubt I'll get a chance to read it and I don't mind being spoiled.

ETA: [info]snakeling came through for me.

Getting My Ducks In A Row

I’ll be finishing my [info]snarry_holidays fic over the weekend and I’ll need a quick beta as it’s due on the 20th. Anyone up for the job? Snape/Harry, light-hearted, shouldn’t be more than 2,000 words.

Sorted.

Because The Flist Is All Knowing

Is there a site/community that is multifandom and lists all the different festivals one can join over a calendar year? Not that I want to sign-up for more festivals (Loup can attest to how much I've been wiggling around my snarry_holidays story) but I thought it might be a handy resource I could create and update quite easily.

If there's not, what festivals do you know of? Any fandom, any time of the year, fic/art/whatever. I'll have a look on their page (let me know if they're on IJ, LJ, etc?) and provide a brief summary for my 'as yet uncreated because I'm not sure if I need to' community.

Why yes, I'm stalling instead of writing. How did you guess?
